City National Bank is again the "king of L.A.'s banking industry," according to the Los Angeles Business Journal's annual ranking of the largest banks headquartered in Los Angeles County. City National was No. 1, based on assets ($23.1 billion at September 30, 2011). "Being No. 1 is not our goal, but it's nice," said CEO Russell Goldsmith. "Growth is important, but I think it's much more important to be the best."
