Tomoko Iwakawa is a senior vice president and foreign exchange advisor in City National Bank’s International department. She is responsible for providing foreign exchange sales and custom solutions to the bank’s entertainment, corporate and high net-worth clients.
Tomoko has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining City National Bank, she was a senior associate at AuditOne, LLC, where she audited interest rate risk, liquidity risk and investment risk management for financial institutions.
She earlier served as senior vice president and manager of Union Bank’s Global Derivatives division, offering interest rate and commodity derivative hedge products. Before that, she was a foreign exchange advisor for corporate customers.
A native of Japan, Tomoko began her career with J.P. Morgan Tokyo as one of the first female traders on the trading floor. She later worked for Morgan Stanley in London, where she provided foreign exchange strategies for Japanese asset managers.
Tomoko earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Keio University in Japan and a master’s degree in economics from the London School of Economics.
She is a member of the Alumni & Friends of the London School of Economics, and also a supporter of and student at the Colburn School of Music.
