This year's Center for Family Business Entrepreneur Hall of Fame event at California State University, Fullerton - which recognizes Southern California family-owned businesses - featured keynote speaker Ken Blanchard, who has authored or co-authored more than 60 books. His international bestseller, “The One-Minute Manager," has sold more than 13 million copies.
City National Bank has been the exclusive banking sponsor of The Center for Family Business since 2010 and the presenting sponsor of its annual Hall of Fame banquet for the past four years. The banquet was held recently at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda.
“The Hall of Fame banquet has been a great way to bring attention to local, family-owned businesses and to the center. It sells out every year," said Joe Hernandez, team leader of commercial banking at City National. “The attendance is driven by the members, the partners and other non-members that are interested in learning about family business issues. This annual event, along with the monthly workshops presented by the center, provides a great learning opportunity."
Family businesses often face unique challenges, including leadership, family turmoil and business planning. CSUF, which has the third-largest business school in the nation, along with the founding members of The Center for Family Business, helped develop the Family Business Dynamics Class, now taught at the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics.
