Cahill brings extensive in-house corporate legal and private practice experiencein a wide range of fields including banking, operations, financial services,mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions, strategic planning,securities activities, capital markets, intellectual property and other keyareas.
He also has considerable management experience in banking, informationtechnology services, technology investments and integration, and strategicalliances.
Previously, Cahill served as president of Avista Ventures Inc. in the PacificNorthwest, where he led the firm's venture investment and new technologyintegration with early stage technology companies.
From 1983 through 1996, he worked for First Interstate Bancorp, where he servedin several capacities, including EVP and GeneralCounsel-Litigation/Bankruptcy/Problem Loans, and EVP, General Counsel/ChiefAdministrative Officer and Corporate Secretary for First Interstate Bank ofTexas.
Cahill also spent four years in private law practice at Los Angeles-basedBodkin, McCarthy, Sargent & Smith, and Findley & Associates.
Cahill earned two bachelor of arts degrees, both with honors, from theUniversity of California at Irvine, in statistics/computer applications, andfrom the University of California at Santa Barbara, in philosophy. He earned hisJuris Doctorate with honors, from Whittier College School of Law, where heserved as editor-in-chief of the Law Review.
In addition, he has completed extensive post-graduate studies in emergingtechnology, communications, technology, strategic planning and management.
He is a member of the California and Washington state bar associations, and isactive in the Washington Technology Alliance and the Alliance of Angels, as wellas various venture capital organizations.
Cahill also was recognized with American Bankers' Top 40 U.S. Bankers Under 40award. He is a member of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and actively supportsPublic Counsel, the nation's largest pro bono law office, which serves as thepublic interest law firm of the Los Angeles County and Beverly Hills barassociations, assisting the disadvantaged.
