SAN FRANCISCO – City National Bank today announced that it has hired Matt Christensen as a senior vice president and manager for its Commercial Banking Services (CBS) group in the San Francisco area. Christensen is a well-known banking professional who has worked in the financial services industry in San Francisco for nearly 30 years.
In his new capacity, Christensen will be responsible for developing new client relationships with mid-sized companies in the San Francisco area and matching their financial needs with solutions from City National.
Christensen will report to Arlene Gould, regional commercial banking manager for Northern California at City National Bank.
“Matt is a native San Franciscan and a well-known banker in the San Francisco marketplace,” said Gould. “He shares our commitment to excellence in client servicing, and we are pleased to have him on board.”
“This further strengthens our plans for growth in one of our key markets – San Francisco,” said Robert Brant, executive vice president and Northern California regional executive for City National.
City National Bank recently opened a second office in San Jose – its 11th branch in the Bay Area.
City National now circles the Bay with three offices in San Francisco, two in San Jose and one each in Burlingame, Palo Alto, Fremont, San Leandro, Oakland and Walnut Creek. City National entered the Bay Area in 2000 and last year ranked as one of the top 10 Bay Area banks in terms of deposits.
Christensen was formerly a senior vice president and client manager with Bank of America in Oakland and was previously a director and team leader for Merrill Lynch & Co. in the Western Region in San Francisco. Christensen also worked for GE Capital in San Francisco in various positions. He also worked at Union Bank, Security Pacific Corp. and Sanwa Business Credit.
Christensen received his bachelor’s degree in business economics from the University of California at Los Angeles.
