LOS ANGELES, Apr 24, 2008 (PrimeNewswire via COMTEX News Network) - City National Bank today announced that it has hired Scott Witter as senior vice president and private banking manager of its downtown Los Angeles office located at 555 Flower Street. Witter joins City National with 28 years of banking experience, which began in 1980 as a teller for Lloyds Bank of California, the predecessor to Bank of the West. Prior to joining City National, Witter worked for Bank of America and its predecessor bank, Security Pacific Bank, for 19 years. He most recently held the position of private client advisor in the bank's Private Banking Department. During his tenure with BofA, Witter also held a number of positions, including consumer region executive, premier banking market executive, corporate relations officer, and treasury operations manager. Witter spent nine years with Lloyds Bank of California serving in various areas of the bank, including the treasury department, the controller's office and branch banking.

Witter is a graduate of Cal State Los Angeles, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Business Administration. He also completed a three-year Graduate School of Retail Bank Management program at the University of Virginia, which was offered through the Consumer Bankers Association.

Over the years, Witter has earned several investment licenses, including Series 6, 7, 26, 63 and 65, as well as a Life and Disability Insurance license. He also completed the certification program in Financial Planning from the UCLA Extension and received his professional designation as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) in 1998.

Early on in his professional career Witter completed the Rio Hondo Reserve Police Academy. For the past 21 years, he has worked part time for the City of Azusa Police Department, where he continues to serve as a reserve patrol officer. His passion for police work also includes his current service as treasurer of the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation, as well as honorary board member of the California Forensic Science Institute located on the campus of Cal State Los Angeles. Witter also serves as a board member and chair of the Audit Committee of the Los Angeles Library Foundation.
