LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 28, 2001--City National Bank(NYSE:CYN) today announced it has promoted Jeffrey Smith to executivevice president.
Smith is manager of City National's Westside commercial bankingregion, overseeing two private banking groups and one commercialbanking group. He also serves on the bank's executive committee.
The West Los Angeles region is one of the key geographic areasserved by City National Bank, California's Premier Private andBusiness Bank(SM) and the largest independent bank headquartered inSouthern California.

A 28-year professional banker, Smith joined City National in 1991.Prior to joining City National, he served as first vice president andregional manager for Manufacturers Bank, where he was responsible forall aspects of operating a regional banking office including businessdevelopment, customer retention, and credit quality. In addition, heheld management positions at California Federal Savings and Bank ofAmerica.
Smith earned his bachelor of arts in history from the Universityof California at Los Angeles. He is a member of the Beverly HillsChamber of Commerce and serves on the Board of Directors for theUnited Way of Greater Los Angeles, as well as on the Advisory Boardfor the Pico Union Harvest Festival.
