LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 22, 2006--Brian Fitzmaurice hasbeen named chief credit officer and executive vice president of CityNational Bank, California's Premier Private and Business Bank(R).

Fitzmaurice joins City National from Citibank in SouthernCalifornia. From 2003 until the present, he was responsible forCitibank's middle-market credit risk management in California andthroughout the nation. For four years prior to that time, he was chiefcredit officer of commercial banking at California Federal Bank. CalFed was purchased by Citigroup in 2002.

Fitzmaurice has more than 20 years of credit and risk managementexperience, and he has worked in California for over half of thattime.

Fitzmaurice succeeds James Dowd, who will resume hisresponsibilities as City National's deputy chief credit officer. Dowdbecame interim chief credit officer in May 2005, after Christopher J.Warmuth was promoted to president of City National Bank.

In 1991, Fitzmaurice went to work for Michigan National Bank (asubsidiary of National Australia Bank). He held various business lineand credit positions prior to serving as head of credit bureau (theequivalent of chief credit officer) from 1996 to 1998.

From 1989 to 1991, he was a credit manager at Citicorp NorthAmerica in Irvine, Calif. For two years prior to that time, he wasmanager of credit administration for Merabank FSB in Phoenix, Arizona.In 1986 and 1987 he was a credit officer and then district creditmanager at the Westinghouse Credit Corporation.

Fitzmaurice began his career as a relationship manager for Bank ofAmerica in Concord, Calif., where he worked from 1983 to 1985.

He graduated from Northern Arizona University with a bachelor'sdegree in business administration.
