City National Bank has increased its Bay Area presence since 2015, when it merged with Royal Bank of Canada. The bank operates 10 branches in the region and plans on additional hiring.
Since the merger:
Bay Area bank colleagues have grown 14 percent, from 215 to 245 people.
Loans have increased in the region by 27 percent.
Deposits have jumped 30 percent in the Bay Area.
"Our story is about growth," said Michael Walker, regional executive for City National in Northern California told the San Francisco Business Times. "This is one of the few bank mergers ever where people didn't lose their jobs."
