LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26, 2006--City NationalCorporation (NYSE:CYN) today announced that entrepreneur and formerLos Angeles deputy mayor Linda Griego has been elected to the boardsof directors of both the corporation and its subsidiary, City NationalBank.

As president and chief executive officer of Griego Enterprises,Inc., Griego runs a business management company that oversees EngineCo. No. 28, a prominent Los Angeles restaurant that she founded in1988 after spearheading the renovation of a historic downtownfirehouse. She also owns Oso Ranch and Lodge in New Mexico, and hasbegun to develop television programming for the Latino market.

Griego has been involved in the banking industry for many years.In addition to having served other financial institutions in bothboard and advisory capacities, she was a director of the Los Angelesbranch of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco from 1998 until2003.

During the 1990s, Griego held a variety of government-relatedappointments at the local and federal levels. From 1991 to 1993, sheserved as deputy mayor of Los Angeles. From 1994 until 1997, she waspresident and chief executive officer of Rebuild L.A. (RLA), an agencythat had been created to spearhead the inner city's economic recoveryafter the civil unrest in 1992. She went on to become interimpresident and chief executive officer of the Los Angeles CommunityDevelopment Bank, a $430 million federally funded empowerment zonedevelopment bank. Then, in 1995, President Bill Clinton appointed herto NAFTA's North American Development Bank Community AdjustmentCommittee, a position she held for five years.

Griego has received business and civic leadership awards fromorganizations like the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA);the Mexican American Bar Foundation; City of Hope; CORO; CaliforniaState University at Los Angeles; the YWCA of Greater Los Angeles; theSan Francisco Hispanic Foundation; the Los Angeles Business Council,and others.

Griego was born and raised in New Mexico and received herbachelor's degree from UCLA.
