LOS ANGELES – City National Bank, California's Premier Private and Business Bank, today announced that Michael Muttart has joined the company as senior vice president and chief fiduciary officer for Trust and Investment Management.

Muttart will provide leadership on policies and procedures that are consistent with evolving legal and regulatory authority and serve as a key resource to personal trust officers and other members of Wealth Management Services. Muttart, who has been an active member of the State Bar of California for 18 years, will also participate in business development opportunities. He will report directly to Michael Dowling, the head of Trust Services.

Muttart joins the bank from U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management in Palm Desert where he was the Western Division fiduciary advisor. Before that, he was an assistant general counsel and team leader for Bank of America's Legal Department in Los Angeles, where he advised the Private Bank on fiduciary matters related primarily to trusts, proprietary mutual funds and alternative investments.

Prior to his career in private banking, Muttart was in private practice in Los Angeles at trust and estate law firms including Weinstock, Manion, Reisman, Shore & Neumann in Century City and Rosenfeld, Meyer & Susman in Beverly Hills.

He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Claremont McKenna College, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and is a graduate of Loyola Marymount Law School in Los Angeles, where he was an editor of The Loyola Law Review.

Muttart, who lives in Long Beach, is an active member of the California Banker's Association, serving on its Wealth and Investment Management Committee. He is also a member of the Beverly Hills Bar Association, the Los Angeles Bar Association and the Desert Bar Association.
