LOS ANGELES, Apr 8, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) - City NationalCorporation (NYSE:CYN) today announced that Peter M. Thomas has beenelected to the boards of directors of the corporation and itssubsidiary, City National Bank.

Thomas is managing director of Thomas & Mack Company, a leadingcommercial real estate development firm. Previously, he was a bankingexecutive for 18 years.

From 1992 to 1995, Thomas was president and chief operatingofficer of Bank of America, Nevada. He began his banking career in1977 with Valley Bank of Nevada, and served as its president and chiefoperating officer between 1982 and 1992. He also was a member of thebank's board of directors. In 1992, Valley Bank's parent company,Valley Capital Corporation, was acquired by BankAmerica Corporation.

Thomas is active in civic and economic affairs. He is a boardmember of the Los Angeles branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of SanFrancisco. In addition, he chairs the Las Vegas Metropolitan PoliceDepartment's fiscal affairs committee and is a member of the NevadaCommission on Economic Development. He also is a member of the boardof trustees of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Foundation, and theexecutive committee of the Nevada Development Authority.

Thomas received a bachelor's degree in finance from the Universityof Utah in 1972 and a law degree from Georgetown University in 1975.He is a member of the bar associations of Nevada, Utah and theDistrict of Columbia.
