Eric Brecher is an attorney, Certified Exchange Specialist® and manager of City National Bank’s 1031 Exchange Qualified Intermediary Service. Since joining the bank in 2011, he has assisted real estate investors and their legal and tax advisors with the deferral of various taxes through the utilization of Section 1031 of the Internal Revenue Code.
Eric began his legal career working in the real estate group at Fischbein Badillo Wagner and Harding, LLP. He became a Qualified Intermediary in 2005 and has previously provided his expertise at Washington Mutual Bank, Inc. and MUFG Union Bank, N.A. Eric has been involved with thousands of 1031 Exchange transactions including forward-delayed, reverse, improvement and personal property exchanges.
Eric received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Boston University School of Management and later earned a Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac University School of Law. An active member of the Federation of Exchange Accommodators, he has served on its board of directors and is a past recipient of both its President’s Award and its Leadership Award. Eric is one of only about 100 individuals nationwide designated as a Certified Exchange Specialist®. He is admitted to the 2nd Appellate Division of New York. Among his achievements at City National Bank, Eric was the proud recipient of the City National Bank Bram Goldsmith Blue Ladder Award for 2017.
