Russell Goldsmith, City National Bank Chairman and CEO, has been named one of 16 Los Angeles civic icons by the Los Angeles Business Journal as part of its inaugural list of the 500 most influential individuals in Los Angeles. The prestigious designation was given to those “whose impact on Los Angeles transcended their core industries.”
Goldsmith, who also leads RBC Wealth Management in the U.S., joined City National as CEO in 1995. He has long been active in business and civic affairs. As chairman of the Los Angeles Coalition for the Economy & Jobs, he leads an independent organization of local leaders focused on fostering economic and job growth. From 2006 to 2008, he served as chairman of the Los Angeles Economy & Jobs Committee, which was formed by the city’s former mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa.
Other individuals named to the list of icons include: Wallis Annenberg, Eli Broad, Rick J. Caruso, Michael Eisner, David Geffen, Robert Iger, Magic Johnson and Patrick Soon-Shiong.
